Review:

So this is the fifth in the Josie Quinn series and it’s actually only the second one I’ve read (you can read my review of her final confession Josie Quinn 4 here) but I think it works perfectly well as a stand-alone.

It’s a heart breaking case for Josie’s boyfriend Noah as he finds they find his mother, Colette, dead in the backyard of her home but it’s not from natural causes. Someone killed her but she’s seemingly without enemies.

As Josie and her team dig deeper into Colette’s life they find links to an old missing person’s case of a prominent attorney Drew Pratt. What secrets was she keeping from her own children?

Meanwhile, Josie’s friend and colleague Gretchen is placed on desk duty after their last case, so she is forced to work with the inexperienced Mettner.

More bodies turn up and it’s a race against time to stop the killer before they strike again.

I’m a little late to the party on this thrilling series and I’m really kicking myself for not picking them up sooner!

This is an intricately plotted police procedural, which is just non stop from beginning to end, packed with twists and turns that you won’t see coming!

Josie and Noah really go through it in this novel. Noah usually the calm and in control one, changes completely, becoming uncommunicative and lashes out at everyone, especially Josie. She never really got on with his mother, now it seems that his overbearing sister Laura has taken over, making her feel guilty and trying to get in between her and Noah. Without Noah’s support she spirals back into bad habits, it’s touch and go whether she’ll be able to solve the case.

Okay, yes there are a few aspects which I found a little either convenient or unbelievable but with a fast pace and gripping writing style, you can quite easily ignore those things (unless you’re like me and overthink everything).

Overall The bones she buried is a thrilling tale that will keep you gripped from the first chapter. I can’t wait for the next book!
