Hello lovelies! Today I have a fabulous cover reveal for Technopaladin by Elizabeth Corrigan organised by R&R Book Tours. First a little about the book:

Expected Publication Date: May 2021

Genre: YA Sci-Fi/ Fantasy

Description:

Clarity’s paladin order forbids her from entering the Azure District, the one location in her high tech city that refuses paladin rule and technology. When she receives an illicit invitation to violate the prohibition, spurred on by rumors of suffering in the district, she passes through the crumbling brick entryway into no-man’s land. Within, she finds the residents lack not only the ocular implants and three dimensional computers she takes for granted, but also medicine to fight a disease infecting the children.

Clarity knows her order isn’t perfect—after all, they stole her from her parents when she was a small child to raise her with their values—but she cannot believe they know what’s going on in the Azure District. When she confronts the head of the order, he refuses to aid people who have rejected his help in the past, even the children. Unwilling to take no for an answer, Clarity enlists the help of the leader’s son Cass and takes matters into her own hands.

Desperate both to cure the children and keep her place in the order that is her only home, Clarity engages in increasingly questionable behavior—deleting official records, lying to her friends, and manipulating people who can help her. As the nefarious nature of her actions tarnishes the purity of her cause, she must determine what it truly means to be a paladin, in both name and action.

Now here’s what you’ve been waiting for, the gorgeous cover:

‘This is a BEAUTIFUL book. Gripping, engaging, and absolutely worth the time it takes to burrow yourself into its reality. I can’t recommend it highly enough’ Seanan McGuire

The Book of Koli begins a breathtakingly original new trilogy set in a strange and deadly world of our own making.

Beyond the walls of the small village of Mythen Rood lies an unrecognisable landscape. A place where overgrown forests are filled with choker trees and deadly seeds that will kill you where you stand. And if they don’t get you, the Shunned men will.

He’s wrong.

Book of Koli blog tour

Review:

I want to thank Tracy Fenton at Compulsive Readers for inviting me on this blog tour and Orbit for providing me with a copy of The Book of Koli.

It’s been a while since I’ve read a fantasy novel and I’ve heard such good things about M.R. Carey, I thought I’d give it a go.

The books of Koli is a cleverly written fantasy novel with elements of a coming of age story all wrapped up in a dystopian adventure.

It’s told in first person point of view, in the voice of Koli himself. It feels exactly like he’s talking directly to you which I really enjoyed. It took me a little getting used to his voice as his speech patterns are a little different to our own.

Koli is around fifteen or so at the beginning of the story and there were points in the story where he reminded me of my own fifteen year old son. There was that confidence that they know what’s best, coupled with naivete and inability to really hide their emotions that made Koli such a realistic character to me.

The world building was also fantastic with nature basically turning against the human race, forcing them to live in fairly primitive ways. But then there was the added intrigue of ‘tech’ left behind that can only be controlled by a few chosen individuals.

This for me was a book of two halves, the first was slow build, giving us some back story and showing us Koli’s world, the second half was full on, tension and adventure packed. I have to be honest I did almost give up during the first half of the book but keep going with it, all the set up really does pay off in the end.

The Book of Koli is clever, compelling and a real escape from reality.

The Haunting at Paradise House Full Tour Banner

Review:

Addison wants nothing more than to be a nurse but is getting nowhere. Out of the blue she is offered a job working at Paradise House. But the moment she sets foot there strange things start to happen and she thinks there’s more to her new employers than what meets the eye.

The Haunting at Paradise House is a combination of fantastical elements with ghostly goings on, intrigue, mystery and a dash of romance added to the mix.

There’s plenty of spooky scenes, with some very creepy dolls, which made me shiver as I’m not a fan of dolls in general anyway.

I’ve read a couple of novels with reaper type characters in and I enjoyed the author’s different take on them.

I liked Addison. She is strong and more than a little stubborn with a caffeine addiction and a clingy boyfriend. Even with all the craziness going on around her, she keeps a level head.

I have to be honest, the beginning of the novel was a little confusing and I felt there were aspects that were a bit rushed but of course that’s just my opinion.

The Haunting at Paradise House is a fast paced spooky read that will capture your imagination.
