Publication Date: May 10th, 2018
Genre: Contemporary Fiction/ Suspense/ Romance
Publisher: Willow River Press
Mallory Riscoe is no stranger to dysfunction. Despite her tumultuous childhood, at twenty-two, she has established herself as a fully functional, self-made woman. However the safe, mundane life she has created for herself is quickly turned upside-down when she’s falsely accused of theft and promptly fired.
Meanwhile, a dismal pall hangs over the Colt residence. Since the death of his wife, Brendan Colt has struggled to care for his children; Kason and Meela. Each is lost in their own deep grief, but there is more to this family than meets the eye.
Two worlds collide when Mallory accepts the job as nanny to the Colt children. Mallory begins to feel a connection, a whisper of trust between them, that could mean there is still hope for everyone involved to heal. But when an unspeakable secret is uncovered that bond, and possibly Mallory’s life itself is now at risk. Can Mallory unlock the mystery intertwined in this chaotic family or will all hope of closure be lost forever?

Q&A with Misti Mount:
1. Where did the inspiration for The Nanny Song come from?
I wrote this story in my very early twenties, my teenage years full of babysitting and nannying still fresh on my mind. I wanted to write something that reflected my struggles and adventures in bonding with other people’s children. The real kids I worked with will always have a place in my heart and thankfully, most of them were not as badly behaved as the duo in my book.
2. If you could describe your book in one sentence what would it be?
A modern-day Jane Eyre meets a (good) Lifetime movie.
3. What is a typical writing day like for you?
I usually wait for the house to quiet down after everyone has gone to sleep, then I bust out my laptop at the dining room table. I’m frequently guilty of staying up all night and suffering intense drowsiness the next day.
4. If you could recommend just one book to read what would it be and why?
That’s so hard! I’ll have to say The Princess Bride because it has a bit of everything: true love, high adventure, pirates, princesses, giants, miracles, fencing, and tons more!
5. Who are your favourite authors?
I love classic sci-fi authors like Arthur C. Clark, Philip K. Dick and Larry Niven. I also love old mystery and gothic romance authors like Agatha Christie, Mary Stewart and Victoria Holt.
6. Is writing your only job? If not, what is your other job?
In addition to being a mom and caring for my sister, I do daycare part time and work as a personal care attendant for people with special needs.
7. Tell me something interesting about yourself (that’s not in your author bio!)
I have always been deeply empathetic and I often suffer from “sympathy pain” if I witness someone physically hurting or emotionally suffering.
8. What are you currently working on?
I’m nearly finished with my next novel, a sort of origin story that was inspired by my character in the first role-playing game I ever played.

I write because my head is filled with daydreams and I like to choose the endings.”
