Review:

Edward Philpott is found bludgeoned to death in his beautiful garden. The man seems to have no enemies, apart from a rival gardener. The case has Hillary and her team stumped. With the arrival of a former enemy, Hillary is under more pressure than ever to close this case but she is not working at her best. Will she solve the case?

This series I have to say keeps getting better and better! I’ve been in a bit of a reading funk these last couple of weeks, reading but not really enjoying things but this book knocked that right out of me. I was hooked from the first page. In an ideal world I would have just sat and read it from beginning to end in one sitting but unfortunately, eating, sleeping and generally taking care of my family got in the way.

I will say if you haven’t read the previous book, Murder In The Mansion before reading this one, you really should. I personally didn’t and OMG did I get such a shock at the beginning! I’m not going to tell you what happens but I think you should read the synopsis first.

I feel really sorry for Hillary. She’s not herself and with the hiring of new superintendent Brian Vane, an old enemy of hers, it doesn’t seem to be looking up for her. On a positive note, she may well be seeing the back of DS Frank Ross, a constant thorn in her side.

There is never a dull moment in this book, it was emotional, tense and gripping. I can’t wait to see what Faith does with this series next!
